CLAMPING SYSTEM ON ICE
TO HOLD ANY WORKPIECE WITHOUT STRESS

WHAT IS AN ICE-PLATE?

Nature provides a perfect example for this novel and revolutionary holding method! All of us have already experienced it. Touch a frozen metal barrier with a wet or damp hand, and it will immediately stick to it because the water has turned into ice.

The Ice-Plate works on exactly the same principle. Yes! You read woll:

THE WORKPIECES ARE STUCK BY MEANS OF ICE

They are placed onto a plate covered with a film of water and then frozen.

The holding force is sufficient (approximately 15 kg/cm²) for the purpose of machining workpieces, by drilling, milling, diamond surfacing, grinding, slicing, engraving, polishing etc.

The positioning repeatability of the workpieces is guaranteed to be within 0,01 mm (,0004") in all three axes, whereby the accuracy in the plane X-Y depends on the intermediary workplate.

The technique of holding by freezing is not only economical but also perfectly ecological, since it only requires pure water.

Freezing and thawing will not exert any stress on the parts, so that this method is particularly suitable for fragile, thin, complexly shaped or non-magnetic objects. It is applicable without any difficulty to all metals, to sintered or porous materials, to plastics and ceramics as well as to cellular and honeycomb structures.

All functions of the system are microprocessor driven, which offers maximum flexibility and reliability.

There are various dimensions of the freeze-plate in the standard Ice-Plate type as well as rotary model for applications in machining by turning or milling (combined with a rotary table) available.

Tor the machining in series we propose a clever method combining freezing and holding by means of an intermediary workplate. This device provides the maximum efficiency in loading and unloading the workpieces.

The intermediary plates can be made with positioning means (pins, nests etc.) by which the parts can be located precisely.
